Martin Swan ARSMA British b. 1951 Martin Swan was born on the Isle of Wight in 1951. After university, where he studied Philosophy and Religious Studies, he turned to drawing and painting. Instead of pursuing the academic life that beckoned he opted for the life of an artist. Swan has achieved high acclaim in this world and is now well established as both a landscape and marine artist. He has a wide knowledge of the world of yachting and this is reflected in his paintings. He is regularly invited to exhibit with the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London and in 2003 was elected Associate of the Society. Martin Swan continues to live and work on the Isle of Wight. His home is close to the Solent where the first America’s Cup was raced in 1851, with the course being the sixty something miles around the Island. It is also the home of British Yachting and the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes. |
