William Hounsom BYLES British 1872 - 1924 William Hounsom Byles was a landscape, portrait and figure painter. He lived in both Chichester and London. Byles’ paintings were exhibited at the New Zealand International Exhibition in Christchurch from 1906 - 1907. He exhibited eight works at the Royal Academy between 1872 and 1916, including Titles include Moonrise before Sunset in the New Forest (1896) and Au Revoir (1898). After becoming a member in 1901 of the Royal Society of British Artists, he exhibited 57 works there. As well, two works were exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Byles fought in the First World War, and died in 1924. |
